QUALIFICATIONS:Gifted Christian to accept the challenge of planning and serving as the Contemporary Worship Music Leader for the Crossroads worship service. The candidate should possess a degree in music or comparable experience in creative worship planning and execution; be familiar with the most current music of contemporary worship (such as is played on radio station 91.9FM); knowledge of music theory, sight reading for voice and proficiency on a musical instrument required; guitar and piano preferred. Requires a commitment of 5 hours per week to develop, coordinate and lead a well-rounded, contemporary music worship experience working with the Pastor and insuring God is glorified, the Gospel proclaimed, and the love of Christ is shared through music and supporting computer /video arts. Collaborate with a dedicated Praise team; supported by members who are eager to serve. Recruit, audition, schedule, rehearse, train, and participate with qualified volunteer musicians and vocalists. Develop a long term plan related to the equipment necessary to support the music by having a working knowledge of sound systems, mix/balance, computer technology and electronic instruments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Select music appropriate for the theme of each service.
Conduct weekly rehearsals with the Praise Band. Work with the band to encourage all to use their gifts to God’s glory and work with them to resolve any conflicts that arise.
Lead the Praise band for all contemporary worship services. If unable to attend, be responsible for finding a substitute.
Oversee the development of the computer and video arts for each service in the provided software program. Assist Pastor in recruiting talented volunteers to handle this work and guide them for each service.
Work with the Praise band, plan and recommend all purchases – music, instruments, and equipment – pertinent to the music of the Crossroads Service with a careful eye on the congregation’s budget.
Work with the church staff to ensure that the appropriate copyright licenses for the music used in the Crossroads Service are maintained and updated as appropriate.
Make recommendations to the Praise Team, Pastor, and Worship & Music Committee regarding how the Crossroads Service might be improved.
COMPENSATION
$20 / Hour
Pay negotiated annually through the congregation’s budgeting process
